In order to ship your vehicle to the United States you may need to provide several documents, particularly when using a professional Clearit.ca import service. The documents you may need to provide include:
PORT AND SHIPPING CHARGES
When your car finally makes it from Canada into the United States you can expect to pay any of the following port or shipping charges.
Now, you might be asking what “Ro Ro” shipping is and what makes it different from 20′ container.
RO RO SHIPPING BENEFITS
“Ro Ro” is a term used in place of “Roll on Roll off” shipping. It refers to the fact that you do not use a shipping container to ship the vehicle; instead you drive it onto and off of the ship (roll on and roll off). Of course, since there is no use of a crane to move the container from the port to the ship (and vice versa), this is a more affordable option; the car is already cleared on the quayside so you avoid all the charges that go along with moving the container to the warehouse for unloading. Remember, though, that you are not allowed to pack personal items within the vehicle if you choose to ship Ro Ro.
CONTAINER SHIPPING BENEFITS
As you could assume, then, this shipping method costs slightly more than Ro Ro shipping. However, it could be a better value as you are allowed to also pack personal items into your car as well as capitalize on whatever space is available in the container. That means you could also move other large items that may be too big for the car. Basically, if you are moving and want to bring boxes of clothing and household items—as well as, perhaps, furniture or other major possessions—this could be a great option for you.2016-06-05
