Odds are you have never had any real problems uninstalling software on your iMac. After all, Mac’s are renowned for their great drag-and-drop uninstall process that makes it ever so easy to get rid of apps that you don’t need. However this process does have several drawbacks, the first of which being that it sometimes doesn’t completely remove the app and leaves some files behind and the second being that not all apps can be uninstalled this way.
As far as that second drawback is concerned, the default uninstall process on your iMac will tend to stop you from removing any of the default apps that come as part and parcel of OS X – including things like Safari and iBooks but also extending to Chess as well. Assuming you never use these apps that means that you’re quite literally going to have to keep them anyway for no reason.
So if you’re looking for an alternative that will allow you to uninstall any software from an iMac, including the default OS X apps – the Movavi Mac Cleaner should be your first port of call. It is primarily used to clean junk files Mac computers, but also comes with a powerful uninstaller that can not only remove any software but will also ensure that every trace of it is wiped from your iMac with no files left behind.
To uninstall programs on Mac using it, all you need to do is run the software and go to the ‘Uninstaller’ menu. The software will then scan your iMac’s apps and list them in three categories: User apps, OS X apps, and ‘leftovers’.
From there you can select the apps that you want to remove and do so by checking the box beside the app and clicking ‘Remove’. Regardless of whether it is an app you installed yourself or one of the default OS X apps – it will be removed from your iMac completely.
Using the Movavi Mac Cleaner to free up space in this fashion will definitely help boost your iMac’s performance. If you also clean out the junk files on your iMac at the same time, you’ll probably notice a marked improvement in its speed and all you need to do is continue to regularly clean your iMac to keep it running in great condition. Considering it’s so easy and convenient – what do you have to lose, really?2015-10-14
